Introduction:

Earth, a world of wonder. It is the third planet in solar system which is close to the sun and home of humans and other living beings live on earth. Earth is also known as “Blue Planet” as it contains 70% of water on its’s surface.
So, Today we are going to discuss about this wonderful planet. We will get to know the formation of earth, some wonderful facts and finally death of our earth. In between somewhere we will get to know that how water and oxygen come on earth and how our cutest moon is formed. Let’s get started.😊

How does the name “Earth” come from:

The word “Earth” is derived from both Germany and English words “erde” and “erthal” respectively which means soil and ground. Other planets derived their name from ancient Greek or Roman god/goddess but earth doesn’t.

Formation of Earth:

Earth started forming about 4.5 billions years before. After Big Bang, there were dust particles all around in the universe. The gravitational attraction between the particles formed a giant rock after lacs of years which was the initial earth. In starting phase earth was very hot. The temperature of earth was about 1200 degree Celsius. There were lava all around it’s surface. You can imagine present ocean as lava.

Formation of moon:

In the same phase (earth’s initial phase), a planet named “Theia” bump into the earth with the speed about 15 km/hr. Due to this collision a cloud of dust and rocks created around earth. These rocky clouds, due to gravitational pull get collapsed and moon formation takes place. Initial moon was also very hot.

In initial phase of earth, Asteroids collides with earth constantly. After approx. 30 lacs years ago a phenomena named “The Late Heavy Bombardment” happens i.e., asteroids were striking to moon and earth continuously. After a time, moon gets away from the earth which helps to freeze the lava of earth and that’s how our earth surface is formed.

How does water come to earth?

At the time of “Late Heavy Bombardment”, asteroids were colliding with the earth surface which brings water on earth in freezing state. Scientists has found that asteroids contains water in freezing state. This freezing water converted into liquid with time and we get our oceans.

Interesting facts about Earth:

1. In whole solar system earth is the only planet which is covered with 70% of water. And that’s why it is also known as “Blue Marble”.

2. Earth is not a perfect sphere, it is a bit flat at poles.

3. There are 195 countries in the world or we can say earth’s land is divided into 195 parts.

4. There is a place on earth named “Hudson Bay” in Canada, which has the less gravity as compared to other parts of the earth. Means if you go their, you will notice that your weight has decreased a bit. But when you will come back it will be normal.😆

5. Our earth suffer about 20 thousands earthquakes per year or 55 earthquakes per day.

6. There is a Dam in china, named “Three Gorges Dam”. It is the largest Dam on earth. According to NASA, this dam slower down the rotation of earth by 0.06 micro seconds.

7. Earth has about 78% of Nitrogen, 21% of Oxygen and 1% of inert gas Argon in air.

8. How does oxygen come to earth?
Our earth has tiny organisms names as “Cyanobacteria”, or blue-green algae, these micro-organisms perform photosynthesis using sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water and produces Oxygen and other carbohydrates.

9. Layers or Earth’s Atmosphere from bottom to top:

> Troposphere
> Stratosphere
> Mesosphere
> Thermosphere
> Exosphere

10. Earth consists of a Ozone layer shield in between Troposphere and Stratosphere which prevents us from the harmful U.V. radiations. But in 16 May 1985, scientists declared that ozone layer is depleting and has a hole in British Antarctic and that hole is depleting continuously till the present time.

11.On May 22 1960, Chile, the largest earthquake with the magnitude 9.5 was recorded. This was the larges earthquake ever recorded on earth. Scientists call this types of earthquakes a “Megaquake”.

Death of Earth:

As, “Nothing is permanent in this world”, this world itself is not permanent. At a point of time our earth will also die. There are several possible ways guessed by scientists which can cause earth destruction.

1. Due to Expanding Sun:
Scientists has said that about 7.5 billions years forward, our sun will expand and become a big red giant. It will become so big that our earth will get into it.

2. Nuclear War:
By the invention of nuclear weapons, our earth is in big danger of getting destroyed. If nuclear war happens throughout the world, everything, included humans, will get destroyed and due to the radiations of nuclear weapons life will not be possible on earth. Earth will become a hell.

3. Global Warming:
Global warming led to the increasing of earth’s temperature. If this continues, at a point earth will become so hot and life will not be possible on earth.
Cutting of trees, pollution due to factories and vehicles is increasing Global Warming. This can cause earth destruction.

Conclusion:

Earth is a precious gift for humans by nature. We have to care by heart not by fashion or style. Do whatever you can do to save this wonderful planet till you are here. Keeping earth safe is the responsibility of every single person living on this earth.
“Save earth, Save yourself”
